Balance Being hosts BNC beauty afternoon

On a perfect early summer’s eve we tip-toed through a collection of charming, traditional English streets, steeped in history (just behind Harrods), to find a pleasant mews lane where Balance Being, the UK’s most sought after wellbeing events company, awaited to offer our group the most up-to-date beauty, health and wellbeing treatments and advice.

The beauty of this BNC event was that it was a drop-in event and our busy conference and event managers could come and go whenever they could escape from the office, enjoy a fruit juice or Cosmopolitan cocktail, sample some great tasting food and meet other BNC members in between nail, make-up, tarot reading or massage and beauty appointments. The idea was to see how a wellbeing event could work within their own companies by either hiring this property for an exclusive event or by hiring a number of Balance Being therapists to pamper and revitalise delegates and guests as a complete event or as an incentive or add-on.

Sisters Rebecca and Clare Hopkins (joint directors of Balance Being) rent the mews property from an associate and can use this stunning three-storey townhouse as a blank canvas to suit the nature of the event. However, a lot of their business involves sending scores of therapists to an event (such as the Channel 4 Christmas party which they have done for many years; providing approx 25 therapists) or they will go to hotels, conference centres, shops, marquees or in-house to offer much-welcomed beauty treatments to give guests a real buzz, or to offer revitalising massages in between or prior to meetings.*

When you meet the sisters you can’t help but like them. Friendly, upbeat, interested, glowing with health and showing obvious enthusiasm for the treatments they have to offer. Being very real and genuine (a welcome antithesis to the corporate, shiny and sometimes robotic suppliers we may meet now and again) Rebecca and Clare have a natural business manner which puts you right at ease. Dressed smartly but not overpowering and with clear, warm smiles they treated each guest personally. “Oh, you MUST try this treatment,” they tell you after they welcome you and take your coat. “You’ll love it, it’s very good and you’ll feel great afterwards!” and off each person went to the designated section of the house feeling very well looked after and excited of the outcome of a massage or makeover.

In the lounge, the central hub of the house used for networking whilst in between treatments, Rebecca would wonder in and make sure everyone was okay and offer them a sumptuous slice of cake or chunk of ciabatta loaded with creamy avocado and salsa, “We believe in serving real, tasty food which leave people happy and content,” she told us. Those with time to spare got to flick through Balance Being’s enormous folder of testimonials and press cuttings with Clare, who told stories of previous events.  Tall, lean and full of vitality you can see why this Yoga instructor (who teaches private classes and does in-store sales promotions for giants like Top Shop) practises what she preaches. You start to realise that this is a lifestyle to aim for and to incorporate into not just your job but into your daily life as well.

At our event the mix of public and private treatments worked well. There was a buzz downstairs in the nail bar, a popular choice at a pamper event, as Club members sat together – totally relaxed - and chatted during treatments or when sipping a freshly prepared cocktail. We all had a purpose for being there and a connection through being members of The BNC, yet there was also space and grace for ‘me’ time as well. However, after people had had their private facial rejuvenation or sports massage on a one-to-one basis they quickly met with others to tell of its benefits and show-off the results!

It was clear from our event that no other company can deliver such an impact at corporate events by offering exclusivity, privacy, individuality and pampering all in one. Balance Being gives its clients total freedom to create their own, unique event – to add a defined and personal wellbeing or pamper signature or slant to their events - and it is guaranteed that all guests – and even the normally stressed-out organiser – will leave on a high.
