The CCIB is a unique venue in Europe due to its modern installations, capacity, architectural design and technical resources. Located in the new hip business district of Barcelona, its unique seafront location is complemented by more than 4.800 hotel rooms in its immediate surroundings and excellent public transportation connections.

The CCIB stands out for the flexibility and versatility of its spaces which efficiently contributes to the success of small and large-scale event organisation.

With 100.000 m2 of space for events, the CCIB has two connected buildings: the Convention Centre, with a capacity for 15.000 people, and the Forum Auditorium Building, seating 3.200. Among its key features: 11.340 m2 of flexible exhibition space, a great banquet hall and 36 meeting rooms (ranging from 30 to 2.600 m2), all column-free and with natural daylight, equipped with cutting-edge technology (WiFi and 100 Mbps Internet), and offering in-house services to cover all the requirements of an event: catering, audiovisuals, furniture, stands, etc.

The CCIB has been pursuing green initiatives since the very beginning. The Centre has been awarded IS0 14001 and EMAS certifications and also calculates and offsets the carbon footprint arising from its own operational activities every year.

Among other awards, the CCIB has been recognized yearly with industry awards such as the AIPC INNOVATION AWARD '07 for Best technological infrastructure, M&IT Industry Awards '07 & '08 BRONZE & SILVER for best overseas conference centre, C&IT HOT LIST '09 BRONZE for best convention centre, and in 2010 was a finalist at the IMEX Green Supplier Awards.

The CCIB has become a special point of reference for major pharmaceutical and medical international congresses such as the European Cardiology Congress (with 12,000 delegates each), European Rheumatism Congress (12.500 delegates) and Congress on Lung Cancer (4,000 delegates). Among the corporate events held, leading companies such as Mercedes, Toyota, Microsoft, SAP, HP, CISCO, Pfizer, Schneider and many others, have enjoyed the facilities and renewed their trust in the venue. Furthermore, the centre has hosted events with a high political and social impact such as the Euro-Mediterranean Summit of Head of States in 2005, the Forum for Euro-Mediterranean cultural exchange promotion (Anna Lindh Forum 2010) and the Ministerial Conference on water in 2010.

The CCIB is a founding member of the Green Meetings Industry Council (GMIC) - Iberian Chapter, and member of many other professional associations such as the International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA), the International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC), the Spanish Association of Convention Centres (APCE), the Barcelona Convention Bureau (BCB) and collaborator with the OPC Spain and MPI.
